The piece is called ‘The Green Green Grass’. When I made it, I was thinking about traveling home and the idea of the place we belong. The map is of the south east of the United Kingdom, which is where I have called home for over half my life. I was also interested in the idea of biodiversity and how birds appear to travel freely around the world, yet have an innate ability to find their way along migration routes. They never seem to need a map!
This print is available in multiple sizes. It was digitally signed by the artist. The 8x10 and 11x14 prints are numbered by The Working Proof. Learn more here.
I choose to pair my print with American Forests. It seemed like a good fit with my work and my desire to remind people of the beauty that exists in nature, and the importance of looking after what we’ve got and ensuring that we maintain it for the future. I am always very keen to support environmental charities.
American Forests' mission is to grow a healthier world with trees by working with communities on local efforts that restore and maintain forest ecosystems. Our work encompasses planting trees, calculating the value of urban forests, fostering environmental education, and improving public policy for trees at the national level. We have a goal of 100 million trees planted by 2020.
Please help us by making a donation to plant trees. Donations can be made to plant trees where they are needed most, or you can designate which American Forest project your donation goes to.
